YES, I SHOOT FOR MONEY

For me (and drool is, after all, for me), there’s really nothing
so boring as blogs that just throw up examples of recently
completed paid shoots. It seems too easy, and drool likes
nothing so much as complications and contradictions.

Yes, drool embraces contradiction so, without further ado
may I present to you five portraits of Ottawa fotografers I
recently shot for Ottawa Magazine…..

This was for their huge annual Interiors issue….coffee table-worthy, it is.
And every year they throw a big shindig to launch the sucker……

STEPHANIE

I bumped into Steph on the block earlier this week. She told me that her
ex-boyfriend, C., had died from a heroin overdose a few days before. She
said: “They took him out of his room, flatline”.

I asked Steph how she was doing, and she said she was still trying
to come to grips with the news. She looked okay but I could tell she
was rocked, confused.

We would have talked more but she had money and was on her way
to get some heroin, so we made plans to meet up in a couple of days,
maybe talk about C. a little.

Well, a few days passed and I went and picked her up, brought her to
my place. But she didn’t want to talk about C. yet, told me she needed
more time…..and she was so tired.

She lay down and fell asleep.

When she woke up I drove her back to the block and she carried on with
her life.
