SECOND HAND STUFF
Okay you droolers, this week it’s a whole bunch of second hand
content. A gathering of previously published stuff that might have
escaped your notice…….
PRIX PICTET
Here’s a video produced by Monacle magazine on the prestigious
Prix Pictet foto thingy.
If you ever despair about what fotos can do and show, their power,
check this out.
Most inspiring……

CV photo
The latest issue of CV, a Canadian fine art foto magazine, just
hit the stands. Each issue of CV is thematic. This one is about
how photography is, and has been, used in magazines. A must
read for anyone interested in media and photography.

This particular issue also contains a review of USER, written
by Emily Falvey, a Montreal based independent curator. I’ll
copy it here for your perusal….

INMATES
I was digging thru my archives, looking for some old thing
when I came across these shots, shot about ten years ago
and published in a Corrections Canada annual report.
There is a branch of Corrections Canada, called CorCan,
that provides workshops and jobs to inmates in federal
penitentiaries, thus providing a certain structure and skill
set to help them reintegrate more smoothly into into the
community, once their time has been served.
These portraits, of federal inmates employed by CorCan,
were shot in Kingston, Frontenac and Joyceville penitentiaries.
The inmates I met and photographed were all interesting to talk
to and had great stories. The reasons for their incarceration ranged
from drug crimes to murder.
