Quite right.

To me, the biggest thing lacking from the FestX was a DIY spirit. Why not have photos in bars, coffee shops, and tattoo parlours? Toronto paints the town in CONTACT stickers when that festival is on. Ottawa could be a city similarly transformed and brought together by photography.

I intend to do my part, and would be happy to help in organizing and coordinating.

Festival X is not defunct, just on hiatus ('tho their web site
is a bit ambiguous when it comes to programming).

The Ottawa Month of Photography (TOMOP) is an ad hoc thing and not really meant (as far as I understand it) to replace anything. It seems to be more of a DIY kind of thing, so I suggest to anyone who is interested in something like this to DIY.

Festival X was a terrible name anyway. Let us hope that the uninsipred but appropriately named new festival outlasts it's predecessor.
