(some of) THIS WEEK
Ever had one of those weeks where you’re too busy to really make
sense of it? This past week was kind of like that for me. You know:
eight balls in the air at once.
Shooting, scanning, post production, a new(ish) assistant, planning
exhibitions and travel, shooting a little video for an upcoming spot
that’s gonna involve 3 other photographers and should be pretty
interesting, and, then, you know, more shooting.
RUNNING DOWN TO KINGSTON
Please let me introduce Magida, my new(ish) assistant. We bombed
down to Kingston a couple of days ago, shot a whole bunch and
then bombed back. Nothing like a road trip to get acquainted.
Yeah.

Feeding the beast on the way down (that’s my bagel dude’s holding)

Shoot, using the kool 4×5 crop on my shiny new D3x

ANOTHER NATIONAL PAGE (no pun intended)
This is Kevin Page, as shot by yours truly.
Once again (see my Ruby Dhalla post from a few weeks ago), a person
who has been in the news quite a bit lately.
Once again, I shot him (a la Dhalla) just before the shit hit the fan.

MONTREAL
USER is going to open in Montreal, June 6th. At IPS Gallery.
Besides showing the latest work (Women), I’ll also be mounting a bunch
of photos from the first year (Night). Kind of exciting for me to be able
to see both bits together.
I have at least one more year of USER shooting before the project is
finished. Gonna be interesting to see how all the various bits and
pieces will fit and hang together once all is said and done.
Here’s a bunch of test prints from USER: Night, that I’m using to
sequence that part of the Montreal show.

Let me tell you…..it’s big fun moving these bits into different orders.
Kind of like a puzzle with no one correct solution, but some solutions
are more correct than others.
TIM HETHERINGTON
Tim Hetherington won the World Press Photo thingy last year. He
also, famously, has said: “I’m not really interested in photography
at all”. Interesting guy.
These particular images of his have been making the rounds lately.
Shots of graffiti done by American soldiers and American soldiers
sleeping.
A side of war we hardly ever see. I look at these and am humbled.
