PRESS

Got some press about my show.

Did an interview on CBC. You can listen to it here.

Here, as well, is an e-mail I got from the CBC producer who pre-interviewed me:

Heya Tony,

Looking forward to seeing and hearing you this afternoon. However, after our
conversation I was quite concerned about the issue of swearing. I”m a hearty
swearer myself, but I know we can’t say that stuff on the public airwaves. It
sends my bosses into a fit because we get loads of negative feedback.

So this is my polite way of saying please don’t swear during the interview. If
you think this might be an issue, then we may have to cancel the conversation.

Let me know if you’re up for keeping it clean for 7 minutes.

Thanks,

XXXXX

The Ottawa Citizen ran a thing.

And, finally, an e-mail I received this morning……

Tony,

I would just like to tell you how moved and touched I am by
the photos I have seen that were taken as a result of “Users”.
I have seen the ones you have posted online, as well as those
in the Citizen today. I plan to go see those in the gallery as
soon as I possibly can.

I work at a homeless shelter in Ottawa, and I would say that
I know 90% of the people you photographed. I have had
conversations with a number of them about a variety of
issues, including: their families, their friends, their beliefs,
and their addictions. They all have stories to share, and it
is very rare that people not involved in social work pay
attention. I am so impressed by the fact that you took
this on as a personal project, and the photographs you
have taken really capture so much of what I know of
these people……..

Just as a personal story to you, and the difference you
have made - we had a girl come in this past evening,
with a photo you took of her. I suppose you must have
printed them off and given them to those you could find?
Anyway, she showed us the photo, and told us about the
shoot. She then asked us to keep the photograph in her
file in our office, so that she wouldn’t lose it, or ruin it.
It was obvious that the time you took with her meant
something, and I’m sure it’s something she will always
remember, and keep with her.

So again, thank you very much! And, I look forward to
seeing the prints in La Petite Mort.
