FOTO FESTIVAL

Ottawa’s first Photo Festival: FESTIVAL X, opens this week.

Shows all over town. I’m in 2 group shows.

One’s at The Ottawa City Hall Gallery. It opens Thursday Sept. 20th, 5:30 to 7:30.
The other one is at Gallery La Petite Mort. It opens Friday Sept. 21st, 7:00 to 10:00.

Hope you can make it to one or the other (or both).

The big opening Party is at SAW Gallery Thursday Sept. 20th. 7:00 to 9:00.

My house was a bit of a production facility this past week. Lots of printing and framing.

MY PUNK-ASS HASSELBLAD

Been shooting lots of film this summer. I forgot just how much fun it is,
not knowing what you’ve done, what you’ve got, until the film gets back
from the lab. Plus, I love the look of the final images. Digital’s great but
film is greater…..kind of feels like the real thing.

BUS STUDIO

Went to Kingston this week and set up a studio on a bus.

We shot portraits of real riders on a real bus running real routes for a Kingston
Transit advertising campaign.

Trying to accurately frame a shot on a moving bus was one thing, loading the files
into the computer while that bus was rounding corners and bumping over bumps
was something else. Plus I was shooting at 1/20th of a second so the background
would be blurred.

At the end of the day I felt sea sick.

This is the first sunset I’ve ever shot. (It will probably be the last.)
