OLD TERRITORY
Just a little while ago I was writing here about white seamless shots
and hospital photos.
The other day I was out shooting R.K., the art director needed him
on white seamless. We set up in a pretty tiny room and I shot thru

We all wait.
And, lord knows, there’s lots of waiting at photoshoots.
Sometimes I photograph people as though they are waiting.
Which they are. Waiting. But they’re posing, too.
I suppose there’s really no difference, since posing is a kind
of waiting.
Typically, though, photographers try to downplay the wait.

Art directors seem to really like shots on white seamless. I suppose it’s because of
the design options these shots give them.
Speaking from personal experience, though, I have to tell you that it’s kinda difficult to
make white seamless shots interesting. The subjects usually have a hard time because
there’s nothing to hold or lean on, [...]

More specifically, I was interested in how the signs they carried were a lot like speech
bubbles in cartoons.
