How much of something do you need to show in a photograph
in order to make the image about that thing?

I think: not much. Especially if you don’t want to be literal (and who
wants to be literal when looking at imagery?)

Of course it helps a lot if you’re not dealing with a single image, but a
sequence of shots. It’s only thru the complexity of sequence (I believe)
that it’s possible to bring out a theme.

This week I decided to look thru some of my American work to see if I
could put together a 4 shot sequence that was about cars…..without
really showing cars.
