MORE HOSPITAL

I spent 3 days in the hospital this week…..shooting the Ottawa Hospital annual report.

Funnily enough I spent a morning working in an operating room just down the hall from
the one I’ll be in next week getting worked on. The surgeon I was doing a portrait of
studied under Dr Mahoney, my surgeon.

Small world.

MATCHES

Had to shoot a burning match….it’s going to be one element in a poster I’m shooting
for IDRC. Here are the 9 shots I shot.

RUBY + BEN + WHITE BALANCE

This is Ruby Dhalla, Member of Parliament. And Ben, my assistant, holding the WhiBal
white balance card I use.

We were in the Francophonie Room, Centre Block, shooting this. There was a small wooden
box on the table in the room. It looked like it might open but I couldn’t get it open. There
was a red button on it so I pushed that thinking it might be some kind of latch, or something.

Still didn’t open so I put it down and started to tell Ruby a story about another shoot I was on,
another box I tried to open. I was just about to say the word: “marijuana” when there was a
commotion at the door of the Francophonie Room. I looked up and saw 6 or so RCMP dudes,
sweating and out of breath. I didn’t say the word “marijuana”. And knew in a flash that the
button I’d pushed was a panic one.

CONTEST RESULTS

The results are in: The small print was won by D Sharp. the booklets go to
Neil Bakshi and John MacDonald and the hat goes to G. Cosgrove.
